Spruce Goose Hangar To Be Sold

The hangar used during World War II to build Howard Hughes's Spruce Goose and currently used as a movie and TV soundstage is being put up for sale, the Los Angeles Times reported today (Thursday). "Its owner hopes to sell the building to a studio operator who will enlarge its role in the entertainment industry," the newspaper observed. The Times cited real-estate experts as saying that the hangar is worth more than $60 million.

The Dark Knight Continues To Rule U.K. Box Office

Batman continues to reign over the U.K. box office chart as The Dark Knight holds on to the top spot for a second week, with takings of $13.4 million (GBP6.7 million).

The Batman Begins sequel, starring the late Heath Ledger as The Joker and Christian Bale as the Caped Crusader, kept Abba musical movie Mamma Mia! in second place with ticket sales of $6.4 million (GBP3.2 million).
